My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The Affair takes you on an emotional roller coaster while giving you the point of views of all three involved, the wife, the husband and the mistress. We meet Robert and Kathy Walker and Stephanie Burroughs. While Robert and Kathy had started a business together years ago, Kathy had to take a step back and tend to the Walker's two kids, tend to car pool and the house. Robert feels Kathy has neglected him and turns to Stephanie. Stephanie makes Robert feel good about himself, makes him fee young again. I really liked being able to see the perspective of each party and their involvement however, there was a lot of repetitiveness in the telling of each character's story, so much so that I found myself skimming over parts that I had already read earlier. Overall, I did enjoy the book and immediately took to reading the follow-up The Consequences. The only reason I'm giving this 4/5 stars is the repetitiveness was a bit much, especially when it happens three times.
